Personal information

Thomas Oehl is a Research Associate and, in the 2023/24 academic year, Interim Professor at the Chair of Theoretical Philosophy. He teaches and researches on the central subject areas of theoretical philosophy, especially epistemology and metaphysics. His specialisms here are philosophy of perception, theories of self-consciousness, conceptions of love and corporeality, as well as questions on the border between philosophy and theology. Thomas Oehl develops systematic work on these issues mainly by engaging with two currents of philosophical history, which he brings together with a systematic intention: classical German philosophy (primarily Kant and Hegel as well as their reception) and early analytic philosophy (primarily Wittgenstein and his reception).
